In a recent reversal, the Ford government of Ontario has cancelled its plan to dissolve Peel Region, claiming that the move could lead to tax hikes for residents.
In addition to this decision, the province has also cancelled audits into municipal finances and reversed some controversial zoning orders.
“I have always been clear that if we do not see the results we expect from a zoning order, our government will not hesitate to amend or revoke it,” Ontario Housing Minister Paul Calandra said.
