Although food prices are expected to rise in 2024, Canadians could soon start to see some relief at the grocery store, according to a new report.
The 2024 Food Price Report released by Canadian researchers Thursday estimates food prices will rise by 2.5 to 4.5 per cent over the next year, which is down from the five to seven per cent forecast a year prior.
The report predicts costs will go up across most categories – with the biggest increases among bakery, meat and vegetables. Dairy and fruits are expected to see the lowest rise, at just one to two per cent.
Anne Gaviola digs into the numbers and explains what it will mean for your wallet.
