Few signs of progress in Canada's drug death crisis leaving some with little hope for change

Seven years ago this past week, B.C. declared a state of emergency after toxic street drugs began killing Canadians at an alarming rate, but on the seventh anniversary of that date, overdose deaths continue to soar - particularly in western Canada.

This week, Alberta quietly released its 2022 data, showing that while deaths dipped slightly last year, toxic drugs are still killing at least four people every day. In neighbouring British Columbia, the numbers are even worse.

Heather Yourex-West looks at why the crisis isn't improving, and why some people feel they have little hope for change.
