Lionel Messi has signed for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) two days after a tearful goodbye to Barcelona.
Messi had spent his entire professional career up to now with the club colloquially known as Barca.
PSG said in a statement that the 34-year-old Argentina star signed a two-year deal with the option for a third season.
Parisians hope Messi can finally bring the Champions League cup to the French capital after losing out in the finals in 2020.
However, the deal is expected to have far-reaching consequences for the balance of power in European football.
