Experts: Pfizer's calls for third COVID-19 vaccine dose comes too early in global campaign

COVID-19 vaccine maker Pfizer is facing criticism, after the company announced plans to request emergency approval for a third, booster shot.

The U.S. FDA and CDC followed up by releasing a rare joint statement that seemed to push back on the idea.

The statement said: "Americans who have been fully vaccinated do not need a booster shot at this time.”

Medical experts say now isn’t the time to focus on booster shots, since many parts of the world haven’t even had access to first doses yet.
