EU provides aid, avoids ceasefire. Spain, Belgium, Netherlands criticize Israel. Ukraine urges EU support against wars. Survivors of the October 7 attacks traveled to Brussels to urge the EU to continue to back Israel's war against Hamas. However, European leaders did not call for a ceasefire nor condemn the thousands of civilian deaths as a result of Israel's bombardments. While the EU agreed to provide humanitarian assistance to the besieged Gazans, Spain, the Netherlands, and Belgium were critical of Israel's actions. The EU is calling for an international peace conference, but deep divisions within the bloc's response to Israel are evident.
