U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson outlined on Monday phase 3 in his government's plan to bring the country out of a coronavirus lockdown, giving the green light to "cautious hugging" and allowing pubs to serve pints inside after months of strict measures.

Phase 3 of loosening measures will begin next week on Monday, allowing people to meet indoors for the first time in months -- but in groups of up to six people or two full households together.

The prime minister says his government is allowing families and close friends to make their own choices on social contact but stressed that social distancing must be done in workplaces, shops and restaurants.

According to Johns Hopkins data, Britain has the fifth highest death toll in the world from covid-19 with over 127,000 fatalities.

Two-thirds of adults in the united kingdom have had a first vaccine and one-third have had both doses. There were zero new deaths in the country on Monday for the first time in a year.
