A total of 174 schools have now been found to have RAAC, 27 more than was previously revealed earlier this month. Thousands of pupils had the start of their term disrupted by the discovery of the concrete, as some schools had to close buildings or classrooms.

Education Secretary Gillian Keegan said children at a school affected by RAAC were 'petitioning' to stay in the Portakabins as they 'preferred them to the classroom'.
