The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has cut Niger's electricity, prompting legal action from the military leadership.
Niger says it is in breach of an agreement of the 1960s and has led to people dying in hospitals, while small business owners say the extra cost of using generators means they have to lay off some staff.

Al Jazeera’s Ahmed Idris reports from Niamey, Niger.
