Dramatic bodycam footage released by police in Alliance, Ohio, shows the moment officers rescue a woman trapped in a sinking car on Sunday.

Struggling in the darkness, an officer in waist-deep water of the Mahoning River used a tomahawk to smash a back window of the car, ordering the driver to turn her face away from the soon-to-be-broken glass.

Police were alerted to the incident after the woman inside the car called 911.
She was treated and released at a local hospital for cuts and scratches sustained in the crash. There were no other passengers.
