Dengue fever is on the rise in parts of Europe, with experts linking local outbreaks to an invasive species of mosquito.

The European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention says the invasive Asian tiger mosquito, also known as aedes albopictus, is spreading from its southern European base camp and is established in 13 different countries. But as it spreads, Canadian travellers are heading abroad for summer putting themselves in the same place as the insect.

As Sean Previl reports, experts say the risk remains very low but with climate change spurring the insect to move to more temperate climates like Europe, there's still some basic things you can do to stay safe.
