A massive fire that erupted at an oil depot in Crimea was the result of an apparent Ukrainian drone strike, a Russian-appointed official has said.

The fire at the fuel depot in Sevastopol is the latest in a string of attacks on the annexed peninsula as Russia braces for an expected Ukrainian counteroffensive.

Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Moscow-installed governor of Sevastopol, a port city in Crimea, said Saturday afternoon the depot had been attacked by “two enemy drones” and four oil tanks burned down. He said there were no reported injuries.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview this week that his country would seek to reclaim the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014, in the upcoming counteroffensive.
