Researchers have found that seniors who caught COVID-19 during the first wave of the Omicron variant between December 2021 and March 2022 did not have strengthened immunity come the second wave.

The study, which involved people over 70 years of age, revealed that people who had previously had Omicron were, in fact, more susceptible to being re-infected.

Though it is currently unclear how these findings translate to other age groups and demographics, the results showed these seniors were 20 times more likely to contract the virus after already having it.
