U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday his administration is working to secure an emergency use authorization for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, which the company announced earlier in the week was 90 per cent effective in Phase 3 clinical trials.

Trump suggested the vaccine would be approved “very, very soon.”
The president also took aim at New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday, who has expressed concern about the Trump administration’s vaccine roll-out plan.

Trump said once approved a COVID-19 vaccine would not immediately be sent to New York, telling Cuomo to “let us know when he’s ready for it.”

“We can’t be delivering it to a state that won’t be giving it to its people immediately,” he said.

The data from Pfizer’s Phase 3 clinical trials has yet to be peer-reviewed or published in a medical journal. Pfizer says it will do so once it has the results from the entire trial.
