Coronavirus: Reflecting on a year of COVID-19 in Canada

One year since the first COVID-19 presumptive case was reported in Canada, people have learned and adjusted to changes in our day-to-day lives as responses to the coronavirus evolved.

In the early days of the pandemic, it seemed that COVID-19 was under control and Canadians continued to gather in crowds and travelled carefree. Even questions about whether masks should be worn was a constant question facing health officials.

When measures came into place, governments of all levels and a majority of Canadians accepted the dramatic change in their lives. Provinces then reopened and people started gathering again, but it gave the coronavirus the chance to spread once more. Experts say governments have not done enough to keep the virus in check in terms of testing and schools.
