Health officials in Newfoundland and Labrador reported a record 53 new COVID-19 infections on Wednesday and 32 presumptive positive cases.
Last spring, COVID-19 hit the province hard, with a cluster of more than 160 cases connected to a funeral service in St. John’s. Dr. Janice Fitzgerald said she expects the latest outbreak to involve more infections and to be more difficult. “We are in for a rough period in the days and weeks ahead,” she said.
Ross Lord reports on what’s fueling the surge just days away from a provincial election.
