COP28 agrees landmark deal to 'transition away' from fossil fuels

A new deal has been agreed at the UN climate summit in Dubai calling on all countries to transition away from the use of fossil fuels.

The UN's climate body published the draft text of the deal after negotiations massively overran.

It is the first time in three decades of COP climate summits that nations have agreed on a move away from oil, gas and coal.

Those products account for around 80% of global energy.
