NASA's Perseverance rover drilled into rock in the Jezero Crater on Mars and collected a sample of what is assumed to have once been a river delta, beaming photos back to Earth on Thursday. The rover has the capacity to collect 43 such samples, and there are plans to collect more in about a decade. These samples will be of unprecedented help to humankind in its search for alien life.
