Canadians return from Israel after Hamas attack: “Jews haven’t experienced this since the Holocaust”

Canadians were reunited with family members after returning home from Israel on Friday, after spending several days trying to flee the country in the wake of the attack by the Palestinian terror group Hamas.

Kinneret Butterfield-Morrison and her brother Yaron Butterfield were among the 181 passengers on board an Air Canada “rescue” flight that arrived in Toronto on Friday.

“This is insane. This is like, I mean, Jews haven’t experienced this since the Holocaust,” she said of the attack after arriving at Toronto’s Pearson airport.

“I mean this is a major massacre, and the stories every day, the stories of the people missing and the people who lost their lives is heart-wrenching.”

In the initial aftermath of the attack, Butterfield-Morrison said she was in touch with the Canadian Embassy and expected to be evacuated on a Canadian military plane but several days passed without an update from the government.

Fearing they would be stuck in Israel, Morrison said he and his brother went to the airport and, after learning about an Air Canada flight, called his sister and they were able to board the flight.
