At least 45 people were killed when a bus carrying mostly North Macedonian tourists crashed on a highway in western Bulgaria and burst into flames on Tuesday, Nov. 23.
Among the dead were 12 children, officials said.
Seven people who jumped from the burning bus were rushed to hospital in Sofia, Bulgaria, where they are in stable condition, according to hospital staff.
It’s unclear what caused the accident, but the bus appears to have hit a highway barrier either before or after catching fire. It is the most deadly bus accident in the Balkan country’s history.
