Brooklyn subway shooting leaves multiple injured as New York police hunt suspect: officials

Multiple people were shot and injured Tuesday at a subway station in New York City during a morning rush-hour attack that left wounded commuters bleeding on a train platform.

In an update to the public, NYPD and officials confirmed there were 16 total victims, with 10 suffering from gunshot wounds, and five are in critical but stable condition.

NYPD representatives said preliminary information indicated that a male suspect fled wearing a construction vest and a gas mask and police are actively searching for the man.

Gov. Kathy Hochul joined the news conference and said this was an "active shooter situation" in New York.

Fire and police officials were investigating reports that there had been an explosion, but the police department tweeted that there were “no active explosive devices at this time.”
