A state funeral ceremony for former prime minister Brian Mulroney will take place at the Notre-Dame Basilica in Montréal on Saturday at 11 am ET. Mulroney passed away last month at the age of 84.

Prior to the ceremony, a funeral cortege, including a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) mounted escort, a Canadian Armed Forces escort and guard of honour, the Royal Canadian Air Force Band, RCMP pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers, will make its way to the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montréal.

Eulogies will be delivered by Mulroney's daughter, Ontario MPP Caroline Mulroney, former Quebec Premier Jean Charest, and hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.

A Progressive Conservative, Mulroney led the country from 1984 to 1993. Born in Baie-Comeau, Que., in 1939, he will be remembered as one of Canada’s most prominent political figures.
