BREAKING: Drought declared in parts of England

A drought has officially been declared in parts of southern, south-west, central and eastern England.

The announcement means water companies can begin announcing stricter measures to conserve supplies.

The Met Office has also warned of an "exceptional" risk of fires, while much of the country is experiencing sweltering temperatures and little rainfall.
