On British Columbia's Sunshine Coast, 22,000 people have been living with severe water restrictions for more than a month amid drought.
Under stage four restrictions, residents and farmers are banned from using treated water for all outdoor uses.
With almost no rain since the beginning of July, the regional district has been forced to close the taps further.
But as Global's Aaron McArthur reports, now a local state of emergency has been declared and non-essential heavy commercial uses of water will be cut off.
