As speculation swirls that Boris Johnson is set to join the Conservative Party leadership race, a Tory MP who called on Liz Truss to quit says the former prime minister is not the man to lead the party.

Crispin Blunt MP said Mr Johnson was "not the character" to lead the Tories into the next general election.

Mr Johnson has not formally said whether he intends to join the leadership race.
