Nepal town imposes lockdown and beefs up security to prevent clashes between Hindus and Muslims. Despite quickly escalating tensions between Hindus and Muslims, the night passed peacefully after a lockdown was imposed and security heightened in a city in southwest Nepal, officials said.Trouble began in the regional hub city of Nepalgunj over the weekend after a Hindu boy posted a status about Muslims on social media. Muslims protested the status inside the region’s main government administrator’s office building, burned tires on the streets and blocked traffic.


नेपाल में भड़की सांप्रदायिक हिंसा, भारत से सटे नेपालगंज में बवाल के बाद अनिश्चितकालीन कर्फ्यू लगा, तनाव...नेपाल के नेपालगंज इलाके में सांप्रदायिक हिंसा भड़क उठी है। भारी तनाव को देखते हुए पूरे नेपालगंज इलाके में अनिश्चितकालीन कर्फ्यू लगा दिया गया है। मुख्‍य जिला अधिकारी बिपिन आचार्य ने कहा कि हिंसा और पत्‍थरबाजी को देखते हुए आम लोगों की सुरक्षा के लिए यह कर्फ्यू लगाया गया है। इस घटना के बाद नेपाल से सटे उत्‍तर प्रदेश के इलाकों में भी अलर्ट घोषित कर दिया गया है। हिंदुओं और मुस्लिमों के बीच बढ़ते तनाव को देखते हुए सुरक्षा एजेंसियों की टेंशन बढ़ गई है।
