Belarusian police arrested dozens of people on Sunday taking part in the latest round of protests against President Alexander Lukashenko's August election, which opposition has accused him of rigging in his favour.

Witnesses alleged rubber bullets were used against those participating in the demonstrations, with tear gas also reported as being used to disperse the crowd near a metro station.

Belarus is in political crisis as tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets each week since an election in August, calling for Lukashenko to resign after 26 years in power.
