Russian police have arrested over 4,000 people across seventy cities during protests across the country, including Alexei Navalny's wife Yulia who has since been released.

Those arrested were demonstrating against the arrest of Putin critic, Alexei Navalny, who asked Russians to protest his detainment. A vast police presence has also been stationed outside the prison where Navalny is being held, with a "ring of steel" in place around central Moscow.
