Labour is "completely confident that no rules have been broken" in the 'beergate' incident involving party leader Sir Keir Starmer, the shadow attorney general has said.

Speaking to Sky News, Emily Thornberry MP has said the party "will answer any questions put to us" over the claim Sir Keir broke lockdown rules while drinking with colleagues.

Her comments come after Durham Police said they will be investigating the incident, which took place during campaigning for the Hartlepool by-election in April 2021.
