At COVID-19 ‘breaking point’, Malaysia suspends parliament

Malaysia's king has declared a state of emergency at the request of the country's embattled Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin who says he needs the additional powers to stop a surge in COVID-19 cases.
The country is reporting more than 2,000 new infections every day.
Critics say Muhyiddin's government is weak and is trying to cling to power.
The government's coalition partners have called for snap elections.
