Winter is approaching in Europe, and Vladimir Putin’s Russia is doing what it can to make it an exceptionally difficult one in Ukraine. Russian forces have been striking civilian infrastructure, including water supplies, power stations and residential buildings – sometimes using so-called kamikaze drones. But the West is showing its mettle: with EU plans to train some 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers and NATO running nuclear drills amid the tensions. Today on To the Point we ask: As the war in Ukraine escalates, will NATO soon be party to the conflict?
Our guests:
Marina Henke, security expert and professor of international relations at the Hertie School in Berlin.
Karolina Wigura, board member of the Polish weekly, Kultura Liberalna.
Moritz Gathmann, chief reporter for the German political magazine Cicero.
