A family from Gold River, B.C., were met with an unexpected surprise last Saturday when they discovered a large black bear exploring their minivan.
Deborah Shorthouse and her daughter tried to scare the curious creature off, before it jumped out of the driver side window and scurried away.
Shorthouse said there was a bag left in her vehicle with Reese’s peanut butter cup wrappers, joking “That’s my fault.”
According to other Gold River residents, black bears are very common in the area — as are encounters with them.
As a result, residents have been advised to ensure all fruits are picked from their trees, to help dissuade bears. Global’s Kristen Robinson reports.
