The family of an Edmonton-area senior is devastated after being hit with an unexpected bill in the wake of their mother’s death. The family is sharing their story in hopes others won’t find themselves in the same situation.
On Remembrance Day, 92-year-old Elsie Fuhr was forced to leave her room at West Country Hearth lodge because an opened window had frozen pipes and caused a flood. Administration told Fuhr's family there were no other accommodations.
While Fuhr would end up staying with one of her daughters, she would sadly pass away soon after.
Fuhr's passing would leave the family with a roughly $14,000 bill for repairs to the room.
