A 46-year-old man has been arrested and is expected to appear in court Tuesday in connection with the deaths of his two children on Montreal’s north shore in Quebec.

Laval police discovered the bodies of an 11-year-old boy and his 13-year-old sister after officers were called to a home on Lauzon Street in the Sainte-Dorothée neighbourhood shortly before 6 p.m. Monday. They were responding to a call from neighbours.

Investigators have publicly described the crime as a “family tragedy.” Police sources told Global News that the two children were drowned in the bathtub.

First responders tried unsuccessfully to revive both children, but they were taken to hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
