Holding banners that read "You are not welcome," and "Russia is a terrorist state," hundreds gathered at the main airport in Tbilisi, Georgia on Friday to protest the return of direct flights from Russia.
Members of parliament and Georgian opposition activists tried to block Tbilisi international airport as the first direct flights from Moscow since 2019 touched down.
The move comes after Moscow lifted a flight ban last week in a significant warming of ties with Georgia, with which it has had no formal diplomatic relations since Russia defeated its southern neighbour in a short war in 2008.
