U.S. President Joe Biden said Thursday as the NATO Summit wrapped up in Madrid, Spain, that world leaders he spoke to do not believe “America is going backward” despite the recent Supreme Court ruling removing the constitutional right to an abortion.

Biden called the decision by the Supreme Court “destabilizing” and “outrageous,” but said during the summit leaders thanked him for America’s leadership.

Speaking on the issue of abortion, Biden said he would support an exception to the filibuster to codify abortion and privacy rights.

On the tail-end of the NATO summit, Biden also said the U.S. would continue to support Ukraine in fighting off the Russian invasion for “as long as it takes.” He announced an additional $800 million in military aid for Ukraine.
