G7: World leaders clash on abortion as Pope Francis makes historic 1st appearance

The unity seen at the G7 summit in southern Italy on Thursday about support for Ukraine could be put to the test Friday, as topics become slightly more contentious, with the biggest sticking point currently about abortion.

International media reported Italy is removing language surrounding safe and legal abortions from the G7 communiqué, which is the official statement from the closing of the summit.

Plus, the second day of the G7 summit will see a historic first. Pope Francis is slated to address leaders on a range of current affairs, which will be the first time ever a pope has made an appearance at the gathering.
