Protesters gathered in the Spanish town of Motril on Friday, after women's rights groups called for protests in multiple cities across the country to demand the resignation of suspended president Luis Rubiales of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for kissing a female soccer player on the lips at the Women’s World Cup final.

Leading officials within the federation have also demanded Rubiales to resign on Monday, calling his behavior toward player Jenni Hermoso during the Women's World Cup awards ceremony unacceptable.

Rubiales has faced a torrent of criticism from around the globe over his behavior at the Women’s World Cup final, including kissing Spain player Hermoso on the lips without her consent during the on-field trophy ceremony. He was suspended from office Saturday by soccer’s governing body FIFA, which is investigating his conduct.
