Canada's 2022 World Cup experience came to a close with a 2-1 loss to Morocco, failing to secure a point in its first appearance at the tournament since 1986.

Earlier in the tournament, the men’s side fell to Belgium 1-0 despite outplaying for the majority of the match and was also thrashed by Croatia 4-1.

Dawna Friesen speaks with The Athletic's Joshua Kloke, who looks at what can be taken away from the experience in preparation for when North America hosts the World Cup in 2026.
