Despite qualifying for its first FIFA World Cup in decades, a string of controversies is now threatening the excitement around Canada's national men's soccer team.

Earlier this week, a planned pre-World Cup friendly soccer match between the Canada and Panama men's national teams in Vancouver was cancelled amid an ongoing dispute over player compensation.

And that was only after another game with Iran was also scuttled, due to backlash over the 2020 Iranian missile strike that downed a passenger plane over Tehran and killed many Canadians. Eric Sorensen has more.
