Women in Colombia can now enlist for voluntary military service after being banned from doing so for decades.
About 5,000 women are expected to join this year, with many hoping it will lead to a professional career in the army.
Al Jazeera's Alessandro Rampietti met some of the first recruits at a military base in Bogota, Colombia.
