Will public sector workers be given above inflation pay rises?

There have been hints the government is set to give public sector workers an above inflation pay rise of 5.5%.

Speaking to Sunday Morning with Trevor Philips, James Murray MP, exchequer secretary to the Treasury, would not commit on whether the government will match the independent recommendation being made.

He said the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves MP, is reviewing the country's finances, including the pay review bodies recommendations, and "will then come to parliament at the end of the month and set out our response".
