No inflation-busting pay rise for public sector workers

As more unions call for inflationary pay rises, the transport secretary has ruled out awarding public sector workers similar pay increases.

Mark Harper told Sky News the country simply couldn’t afford it.

Train drivers walked out over the weekend and nurses will stage their first ever countrywide action next month.
