Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed he has had a 'long and meaningful call' with the Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Zelenskyy wrote on Twitter that he hoped the call would give impetus to the development of bilateral relations. It is the first call between the two leaders since the start of the war in Ukraine. Chinese state media are reporting that Xi told Zeleskyy talks and negotiation were the only way to end the conflict.
