Why are Russians so ambivalent towards Mikhail Gorbachev?

While western media showered praise and reverence on Mikhail Gorbachev following his death, the tone in the Russian media was entirely different.

The former Soviet leader brought the curtain down on communism in the Soviet Bloc, opening up the economy and the political system.

And that isn't something all Russians want to celebrate.
