Corruption thrives during times of crisis. The coronavirus pandemic is no exception. Traders have inflated prices for scarce supplies, like masks and hand sanitisers. Politicians have received kickbacks for brokering deals. Their aim: to profit from others' misfortune.
Almost 5 million people have died of COVID-19 so far. Millions more have lost their health and livelihoods. And yet, there are some who have no qualms about using this major crisis for personal gain.
