Protesters interrupted the start of a speech by French President Emmanuel Macron in The Hague, Netherlands on Tuesday, as he faced weeks of tense protests at home against pension reform that will delay the retirement age.
"Where is French democracy? When did we lose it?" one man shouted from the audience, at the Nexus Institute. Others heckled as well, either about climate change or pension reform, before being removed from the venue.
For a few minutes, Macron competed with those who were shouting in trying to make himself heard. He said social debate and demonstration was "very important" and showed proof of democracy.
