In an unprecedented move, fighter pilots in an elite Israeli Air Force squadron have vowed not to attend training, in support of the growing opposition and protests against the government's plans to overhaul the legal system.
The nationalist, religious coalition led by Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking changes to the justice system which protestors, including pilots and reservists in the elite 8200 intelligence unit, say undermines judicial independence and threatens democracy.
During the past two months of protests, the crowds have been met by stun grenades and water cannons. Elsewhere many supporters of Mr Netanyahu back the government and his planned reforms, causing rifts in society which Israel's President Issac Herzog last month warned leaves the country on the brink of constitutional and social collapse.
