The deadly exchange of fire between Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the Israeli military has escalated. The United Nations is fearing a "full-scale war.”

The latest outburst of violence started in East Jerusalem and spread across the region over the past week, with Jewish-Arab clashes and rioting in mixed cities of Israel. There were also widespread Palestinian protests Friday in the occupied West Bank, where Israeli forces shot and killed 11 people.

It’s the worst violence seen in years, and as Emanuela Campanella reports, decades of long-standing issues are at play.
