What's behind a global decline in human development? | Inside Story

Thirty years of human progress is unravelling.
That's the warning from the latest report on the UN's Human Development Index, a measure of global life expectancies, education levels and living standards.
The index has increased every year since 1990, but the UN has now recorded two years of decline.

Can the trend be reversed?
